BVES at the EU Net-Zero Tech\u00adno\u00adlogy Manu\u00adfac\u00adtu\u00adring Pro\u00admo\u00adtion Work\u00adshop: Insights from Brussels<\/h1>\n<\/div>

On July 10, 2024, Germany's Energy Storage Systems Association (BVES) participated in the workshop \"Boosting the EU's Net-Zero Technology Manufacturing Industry: Challenges and Policy Solutions\" in Brussels, which was organized by DG Ener and DG Grow of the European Commission. This event was a significant milestone in the ongoing discussion process on the Net Zero Industry Act. The objective of this workshop is to identify best practices in the Member States and to discuss further measures to strengthen the EU's industrial competitiveness.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Discussions focused as well on the most effective policy options and regulatory frameworks at national and EU level, including licensing procedures, public procurement, qualifications as well as public financing options and financial instruments to attract private investment in Net Zero technology manufacturing projects.<\/p>\n

One of the key messages of the workshop was the importance of energy storage as one of the key Net Zero technologies with great potential for the EU industry. In this area, Germany plays a leading role as a production location, technology developer and driver of innovation. In order to maintain this technological leadership, it is now crucial to actively support the development, market integration and implementation of European innovations.<\/p>\n

The Net-Zero Industry Act sets an ambitious target: by 2030, Net-Zero manufacturing capacity should cover at least 40% of the EU's annual supply requirements. This goal is intended to provide manufacturers and investors with predictability, certainty and long-term signals in order to create a stable environment for growth and innovation.<\/p>\n
